I've decided to buy a slow cooker after hearing from fellow mumsnetters and 2 RL friends how great they are.

What one would you recommend please?

And what size? we are a family of 4 but I love entertaining and would like to be able to use it for 6 adults at least.

TIA

This thread is very old now and some of the suggestions may be outdated or no longer in stock, but we’ve recently refreshed our best slow cooker guide with plenty of options with a high capacity for families, as recommended by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful.

Oooh!! I shall follow this thread with interest, have been thinking of getting one for ages.

We've got this one - seems pretty good, although I've only used it about 5 times. Holds loads (4 of us, only filled it about half full, even when entertaining us plus 4 others).

ive got the anthony worrel thompson one from argos - its huge! We do up a batch of stew or whatever, and after we have eaten, we split whats left into 2 and freeze and hey presto - 2 more meals!

Mine's 6.5 litres, if you fill it all the way (which I haven't yet managed to do).

does it matter though if you regularly only half fill it?
