To start with a newborn I'd suggest a stretchy wrap, I think Moby is probably the most popular make. They are ideal for
Keeping the baby close and napping etc.

Then I'd recommend going to a sling library in person if at all possible to try on some others and see what kind you prefer.

What Sephy said. If no library, try getting hold of a stretchy wrap and any parent locally who has used one. Failing that, try following instructions facing the bed, with someone to help, more snugly than you think will fit.

If you find that too hot in summer, then a gauze wrap is great.

If moby looks too complicated try a close caboo it's like a moby but stitched so you just pull it on like a top pop baby in and that's it! Dh was even happy to wear it. Hth

I had a moby and loved it. However I echo everyone else speak to a sling library before you buy. Mine allowed me to try lots of different ones with support from an advisor and even borrow one for a month. I don't think I would have had the confidence to use the moby without the tuition from the advisor.

If you contact your local children's centre they should be able to give you the details of your nearest library.
