Vauxhall Vectra or Hyundai Accent?

Our beloved Nissan has finally died on us after 150k and now I need to get another car in a hurry but on a very limited budget.

I've looked at 2 which seem ok for £1200.

First is a 54 plate 1.8 Vectra, 81k miles, bodywork a bit scratched but nothing major. Clutch/brake light is on but dealer says he will sort that out. Comes with a 12 month warranty.

Second is an 06 plate 1.3 Hyundai Accent, 75k miles. Looks good (for an accent!), tidy and newish, no body work or obvious engine management issues, no warranty as private sale and no time to wait for an HPI check.

Does anyone have any experience of these? Thanks.

What do you mean about the HPI check? They're instant! Personally would choose the Hyundai, especially as the Vectra is at a dealer and that pretty much would suggest that it's a £6/700 banger. The warranty won't be worth the paper it's written on.

I would also suggest you to go for a Hyundai as it is one of the best cars and I am telling this from my own experience.
