Reflective clothing etc for those winter mornings?

Does anyone know of any websites selling any flourescent-type stuff. I'll be walking to school with buggy + 4yo along a busy road and wanted us to be a bit more visible for when the mornings get a bit darker. The only proviso is I don't want to look like a lollipop lady please!

can't help with the clothing but I got my local bike shop to sell me reflectors which I put on the spokes of the buggy wheels. Cost about £1 per wheel.

Like the reflector idea, thanks Eeek - we've a bike shop at the end of our road so I'll give them a try. Anyone else?

Some stuff here - most reflective clothing will indeed make you look like a lollipop lady, so maybe the clip on etc bits and pieces are the way to go.

Oooh that's the sort of stuff I had in mind JackieNo but minimum order is £50. I guess the obvious thing is to get school involved but at the moment prising dd off my leg to get her into her reception class is exhausting enough! I don't think I've the energy for mounting a road safety crusade .

Try the haberdashery stall on your local market- most will have reflective ribbon tape that you can discreetly sew along the seams of your coat, on bags, etc. HTH

Forgot to say- it should be about 50p a metre!

bamboo · 04/09/2006 13:01

Thanks vwvic - I used to work in a haberdashery shop - can't believe I hadn't thought of that one! However, if anyone else has any more no-sew solutions I'd be grateful!

Our JJB had stacks of reflective stuff last week - tabards and things - all a bit lollipop-ish but you could always wear a mask

bamboo · 04/09/2006 13:09

Thanks JanH I'll have a look there too if I can escape to the city centre at the weekend.

Just as an update to this, I ordered some stuff from Brightkidz in the end. I ordered it on Tuesday night and it arrived today. They've sent me the wrong colour sash but aside from that it seems pretty good. You'll definitely see us coming now .
