Tamsit fabric booster seat thingy?

Sorry, I'm a bit knackered, so I'm not very articulate. I'm going on a week-long trip in mid-April with my very large 10 month old daughter, and am looking for a portable booster seat, like a Tamsit, or something similar. Just wondering whether anyone has used one, and what they thought of it? Also, where did you buy it from?

TIA for your help!

I had the Boots version of this and found it pretty good (£15 4.5 years ago). It doesn't fit all chairs but it was also good for highchairs which had no harness on them. I used it from about 7 months. I used to keep it rolled up in my change bag ready for use. I's not as secure as a proper highchair and harness, obviously, but it's great for emergencies and travelling.

Not that I'd recommend copying one, obviously, but they look easy peasy to make TBH.

My SIL mail-ordered one , took a pattern of the design and sewed her own, returning the original. Not that I'd condone breeech of copyright you understand.

I got mine in Boots too. Various mail order calalogues like Blooming Marvelous and Jojo Mamam Bebe do them I think too. Its OK if your baby is either not too big or not an escape artist as if they are on a tall baked chair they don't come up quite so far at the front. We used it on a large DS at 6 months on Hols for a week and it was fine. I think he was too big at 10 months but then he was very tall (and still is) Lots of places have highchairs these days. Where are you going

Wow, I hadn't even considered that my dd would be too big for one.... that's a really good point, alison222. We're going to see my parents in NYC, but they haven't got a high chair.

Thanks, everyone, for your tips! Guess I'll pressure them to borrow a high chair instead.

Maomao - we've got the "Take-a-seat" from Grobag (now bumpto3 ) and it's really great. It looks a little bit more secure than a tamsit thingy and fits much older children too.

Ds is a big 18 mth old (taller than most 2 yr olds) and he's fine in it. It folds completely flat and fits in our change rucksack. It's been brilliant to have when we're away anywhere.

Grobag orders tend to arrive next day if that's any help.

Thanks Bobsmum! I've checked the web site, but couldn't seem to find it on there. I'll take a look at the catalogue --- I think we've got one somewhere. BTW, she's been signing happily away, so thanks for your help on that front, too!

On the website it's in the "outside" section rather than "feed".

maomao · 26/03/2004 20:24

WOW, thank you! I would have never thought to look in "outside". Now if only you could teach me how to use a sewing machine!
