Please help... I need a cheap but nice pushchair for a newborn... asap

To cut a long story short there's been a gigantic stuff up and the pushchair we ordered for our new dd is not here, and we have no idea when it will come.

In the meantime I desperately need one for her, but as the first was rather expensive we're on a tight budget. I don't want to skimp on quality too much, I want it to be safe and secure for a newborn, but it won't be used for that long, we may sell it straight away when we get the one we want.

Any suggestions please?

Can you cancel the original one and get it more locally ?

lunavix · 30/08/2006 18:32

No... it's complicated but we need this particular make, and we have to get it from that place...

if you are near me I have a pram/pushchair you can have

LIZS · 30/08/2006 18:36

oh pita then

gothicmama · 30/08/2006 18:39

too far from me then

lunavix · 30/08/2006 18:46

I just really need a recommendation.. I'm happy to buy one, just don't know which ones (in a cheapy sort of way) really are suitable for a baby. We have a mothercare 'stroller' that's apparently from birth but I couldn't stick her in it, she's way too small even padded with blankets.

I have a combi dash. Can be used from birth, can get them for around £65.00

wanderingstar · 30/08/2006 18:48

Not cheapest of the cheap but a Maclaren Techno would have a good resale value (or you could put it away for when she's older, once your main pram arrives). I know lots of people who've used them from birth - though I'm of the flat-on -their-backs-in-a-carrycot school of thought myself !

NomDePlume · 30/08/2006 18:52

Can you use a sling until the buggy comes in ?

What is your budget ?

NomDePlume · 30/08/2006 18:54

£89.99 Pliko-alike

NomDePlume · 30/08/2006 18:55

Anything cheaper than that seems to be of the stroller variety, which given your opinion of the suitability of the mothercare one I assume are off the menu.

NomDePlume · 30/08/2006 18:57

Or a basic Graco Mirage.

misdee · 30/08/2006 18:59

i haveone you can borrow, am in herts, probably no use no right?

have you checked ebay?

LIZS · 30/08/2006 19:09

There is a Graco in Argos says suitable from birth for £50 but you may get a better model, ex display in Toys r us or Mothercare. Boots.com do next day delivery and extra points but the site is playing up atm. If you may need it for more than a week or so a nicer quality one will resell easier and do the job better for you.

car25 · 30/08/2006 19:57

I used a Graco Mirage from birth and am still using it 20 months on. It's been great and I can't fault it. It lies flat and has a huge shopping basket. I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on something more expensive.

LIZS · 30/08/2006 19:57

this one looks fairly cosy and has lots of extras to make is snug or this which Argos are also doing with extras atm, Good luck with the search !

micromum · 31/08/2006 09:20

Hi luna,

If you go onto Argos web site the main page has an option to go to clearence page they have a pushchair that looks like a graco for about £50, it is limited stock good luck.

colditz · 31/08/2006 09:22

lunavix · 31/08/2006 13:36
