funky shelves for dd

Does anyone have these shelves or seen them in the flesh so to speak. What are they like, are they hideously garish (sp) the flower one and the butterfly one

I've been looking for some shelves for dd's (16 months) room for ages for her books and little keepsakes but I don't want to spend a fortune as I guess i'll be changing her room again in a 2/3 years' time.

Has anyone seen any shelves that might fit the bill. At least 15cms deep and 40cm wide. I've looked everywhere. The only other ones i've seen are plain chunky 'floating' shelves that I may get in the end.

her room is fairly plain btw with no really bright colours in it at the moment. Curtains and border are aqua colour and walls/carpet are cream.

Haven't seen the ones you linked to in the flesh (though I quite like the look of the butterfly ones), but if you're likely to be redoing her room (and at 16 months she's probably not expressing an opinion yet), I'd go for something plainer that you can then re-use, or will fit in with the next colour scheme. Sorry - that might not be much help...

thanks JN, will probably go for the floating shelves I think. I just fancied something a little more colourful but I just can't find what I want.

I really like these too leaning shelves but I think dd will use them as a ladder

any more suggestions, allergic to paint so I can't buy plain and customise either.

If you can go with just plain white, Ikea have some quite nice looking ones this and the matching floor standing unit . But depends how keen you are on flat pack.

I guess this is the kind of thing you're trying to avoid and I don't blame you at all - also available in garish pink . but I much prefer JackieNo's Ikea suggestion [waves at the Google Queen herself] or something like this or this .

It sounds a bit silly but bathroom ranges often come in a plain white painted finish that can work well in a child's room - found myself recommending bathroom mirrors for someone's nursery the other day for the same reason.

[waves back. Hi MrsB - nah, can't lay claim to that name - it's definitely all yours]

Thanks for all the links . I've seen all of those. I would go for the argos 1's if they were bigger even though they're not really me. The ones in JL are a bit too small. I like the Ikea one and I did see that the other day but thought devided up it was maybe too small but actually, I think it might be ok and I quite like the floor one too which I hadn't seen. Only trouble is Ikea is 100 miles away lol but I can get there soon as my sis lives quite near. Thanks everso .

Saw the Next floating shelves today and none of them are quite right. Perhaps I'm too fussy.

Oh and I saw the butterfly and flower shelve today in Next and they are very bright, definitely not me......if anyones interested

If dd likes that kind of thing when she's older I may let her have it
