Which Sat Nav?

There are so many to choose from, so I don't know which one would be best. I have been advised by people to get a TOM TOM one, but that doesn't really help.
Can anyone recommend one to me? I have seen one on offer in Currys for £199, if I can get a decent one cheaper, then I'd be happy!

We have a tomtom and it is excellent.

Like MT, I initaily thought,' why bother? I can map read'.

We got one and I have to say I have found it very helpful. I took the kids on holiday without dh, and I would have had to stop and check maps constantly, the thing took me everywhere without a mistake. It was also very helpful when we were in France. As an added bonus, I don't get so car sick, as I am not needed to check maps while we are driving.

I'm useless at reading maps when I'm a passenger (just ask DH), let alone when I'm driving!

Then you will find it very helpful! I am a very good navigator, in fact I have quite a 'thing' about maps of all sorts. But the Sat Nav is very helpful, particularly when you are doing a lot of driving in unfamilier places with no compitent navigator in the car!

Dd is only 9 and isn't really up to navigating for me, so it was most helpful while we were on holiday. The amusing bit was when the sat nav tried its best to pronounce the Welsh place names!

thanks
does anyone have a recommendation on which one to get? At the moment I won't travel anywhere without another adult, even then I prefer not to drive!

There are so many tomtom ones though. I can't remember the one I saw in Currys today, it doesn't say which model it is on their website either. I was also looking at tomtom one, do you know which one you have?

Knowing dh , and his fetish for gadgets, I would hazard a guess it was expensive!
