bicarbonate of soda - what else is it good for?

Now that it is doing its stuff on the milky vomit (if you didn't see milky vomit thread you can ignore that!), what else is it useful for....???

I am about to use it to clean the fridge...well, I will at some point anyway......but what other things can this magic stuff do?

Sad tips anyone?

If you are that interested here is the amonia process for making soda ash. And this is the trona process for making Soda Ash. Soda Ash is the main component in glass making.

In Europe soda ash is not from Trona... it is in the US.
Use to work in the industry

You can use bicarb to clean stained crockery (eg the inside of teapots) and it freshens up thermos flasks. You can also put it on your skin to treat minor burns (I have no idea why, but it works immediately.

It really helps with shoes that are smelly. I dump a bit of bicarb in my dh's shoes and it draws the smell out completely. Unfortunately, that is quite often

goody, I can add something...I was experimenting with it as was sure it did something useful, & got the ancient water marks off a load of glasses & vases by rubbing with a bit of it on a cloth.
Left them sparkling on window sill for ages for dh to notice (ok, gave up & put away in the end).

pupuce
a sincere thanks for that, I have genuinely always wondered and now I know
