Need new car that will hold 3 car seats!

We bought a Ford Focus last year, really like it - it's very economical and fine size for 2 dcs. But got a big surprise at Christmas - we are expecting dc 3 I who will be due in summer.

There is no way we can fit 3 car seats in back of Focus. Older dcs will be 2 and 5 so wil be in car seats for a while. So anyone got recommendations for car that can hold 3 car seats in back seat? Or are we looking at getting a 7 seater?

I have got a Ford Galaxy for exactly the same reason Grin Firstly, congratulations! I never thought I'd say it but I love my people carrier. I would definitely recommend it as a fantastic, versatile family car, and it is also pretty economical on fuel, I usually get around 40-45mpg in a 1.9TDi diesel.

another vote for the galaxy - we have 4 kids (oldest is 6), so have 2 booster seats, and 2 forward facing car seats.

the galaxy swallows them all, and even when the driver and front passenger seat are occupied by adults, there's still a spare seat in the back.

also, when configured to seat 7, there is still a decent boot space - enough for a push chair plus the weekly shop.

decent enough to drive - feels a lot smaller than its size, reasonable visibility, enough power to not feel sluggish, and surprisingly good fuel economy.

Citroen Picasso 5 seater - we had all 3 in child seats in the back.

I love my Picasso. It's now 13 years old and still going strong, though it smells a lot - but that's my dog, not the car...

We have a Citroen Xsara Picasso and it easily takes a HBB, Group 1 seat and an infant seat in the back. Big boot too.

I've got a renault scenic and I can get three in the back snugly... bit of a bother though in terms of reaching all the plugs for boosters

I have a ford smax titanium as i have the same problem but didn't want a traditional people carrier having gone from a ford focus st!

We had three in a focus, it was fine for newborn seat, plus 2 and 4y olds. We figured replacing the car seats for 3 that fit was more economical than replacing the car when we didn't really need to.

I am having a bit of a crisis at the moment in thinking about a 3rd. Money is really tight and we couldn't afford a new car. We have a ford cmax and I have heard completely mixed views about whether you can. Get 3 car seats across the back safely. We currently have a 4 year old and a 3 year old. I am worried about the fit being too tight and not being able to do it safely, so much so that I would rather not have another baby than risk it :(

Deedle I know it's been nearly 2 months - don't know if you'll see this. We have 3 (2 highback boosters and one stage 1) and we have successfully used a citroen picasso, ford galaxy and I've just bought a vauxhall meriva. They fit across the back and they're fine. The 7 seaters just weren't necessary - I thought they were based on internet opinion. When I took them to the showroom and tried them out the results were surprising. We very nearly fit in a Honda jazz - only about 3 cms out which could be found with varying brands of car seat.

The only way to be sure is try the seats out. Go to mothercare or halfords and try every combo!!
