Free CD Burning Software

DH decided to upgrade our PC from WinME to WinXP. Fine, great idea I thought...

However, a number of our programs are not compatable with XP (including our antivurus stuff - fantastic!). Our CD creation software is one of the now useless programmes and I don't really want to fork out for a new version. Does anyone know of any free (or cheap) software that will do the job?

oh no don't want to be burnt by people who haven't even paid

I use adaptec easy cd creator. Don't know if it's expensive

Oddly enough CD, that's what we had! Sadly, version 4 is completely incompatable with XP. Bah!

I don't mind paying for software that really does something (eg the anti virus softare we now have to buy again) but the CD creation stuff seems so "nothingy" IYSWIM!

Usually a newer operating system (OS) should not effect older software, so suggest that you go to your Creation software vendors online and check and see if your version is supported by WinXP or not.

...otherwise give me info on...
Was it an upgrade (old programme overwritten) or a clean install (the old operating system was deleted and a new one installed)?

What error messages are you getting?

and maybe I can help further.

Good luck!!

Also what version of CD creation software do you have?

SoupDragon · 16/03/2004 19:29

It was an upgrade (from WinME), the message I get is "This version has a known compatability issue with XP, contact your vendor" and the vendors website basically says "There are no upgrades available for this version, buy a new one". It was "Adaptec Easy CD Creator V 4.02"

Norton AV 2000 is completely incompatable with XP too and my photo editing software has "known compatablity problems" but a downloadable new driver. I knew this would be more trouble than it was worth!!

Thanks

The joys of Microsoft.

Give a thought to Linux OS in future maybe - it is free!
