OK, who thinks that this is funky and unusual and who would rather have root canal treatment that have it in their house?

I realise it is hybrid of trad look with modern materials which is why I can't decide if it would be a design disaster or something really cool!

Will tell you which I think once you have all voted!

I think it looks lovely. No harder to keep clean than any other st steel sink. Just use Shiny Sinks and wipe front over with your e-cloth. We had a white sink before - used to chip and the black underneath showed through with wear. St steel much better!

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 18:11

we are prob having white cupboards, but not stainless steel worktops (can't face the cleaning) but will be having matte black granite worktops. Would that be acceptable bbbb?

Like ti but pain in arse to clean - have you hard water?

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 18:16

ish yes, but cleaner would do twice a week and apparantly there is something called an ecloth which is amazing. If looked really bad could always put a teatowel over the front as temp solution!

melsy · 16/03/2004 18:19

This ecloth sounds interesting any more details.

nutcracker · 16/03/2004 18:20

I like it, but if i was having it i'd have it in white (boring i know).

I suppose it depends on if you think you'll get fed up of it.

AussieSim · 16/03/2004 18:24

Love it. It is quite similar to my Villeroy and Boch ceramic number. I tried to see if a picture of mine was on their site but it must be in a previous range, but did find this which I thought might interest you. I must say I chose ceramic over stainless steal as my DH is a neat freak and was forever wiping away the 'water stains' in our last kitchen. I followed through the decision on the rest of the kitchen items figuring that with kids it might save the little finger marks on everything. HTH

fio2 · 16/03/2004 18:26

melsy there is a link on CD's other thread for the e-cloth. Its the thread that is also about sinks!

CD have what you like woman

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 19:09

Love it!

WSM · 16/03/2004 19:40

I have to say that I think it is pretty grim, for me it looks like a scrub sink in an operating theatre ! I love them in white ceramic/porcelain but the stainless steel look of that is just too angular, utilitarian and sterile for my tastes.

But I agree with everyone else, it's your kitchen so it really doesn't matter what any of us think of the sink, so long as you like it. You want it, buy it, and don;t worry about what anyone else thinks

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 19:42

Well oddly WSM I was just coming back to say does anyone think it would just look like the sink the nurses wash bedpans in!!!

OP posts:
WSM · 16/03/2004 19:46

rofl !

I love the taps though, if that's any consolation !

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 19:49

Sigh. I only wanted something a bit different. Don't want future buyers thinking I wash bedpans in the kitchen though.

Think it's back to the drawing board....

OP posts:
WSM · 16/03/2004 19:56

Not that I can comment on kitchen style, we've a horrid white plastic 1 1/2 bowl sink in ours, with matching white mixer tap (ickkkkkk, came with the house)!!! Yet to find a sink and tap that looks good but won't clear us of a months salary !

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 19:58

Anyone know if you can get a glass kitchen sink?

OP posts:
emmatmg · 16/03/2004 20:01

Like it, but no draining board is the reason we didn't get the porcelain version.

WSM · 16/03/2004 20:01

Oohh, now I like that idea. I do like the funky little glass bowl sinks you can get for the bathroom and a nice big chunky one in glass for the kitchen sounds fab.

WSM · 16/03/2004 20:03

If you get one like that I think you'd end up having to have grooves cut into your granite (or whatever) work-top. That's how I've seen others get around the issue.

chocbox · 16/03/2004 20:14

Looking at the picture, IMHO, I think that it would look less clinical if it had a funkier tap and was surrounded by more modern looking tiles.

Hulababy · 16/03/2004 20:17

I really like it but you'd have to have the whole kitchen modern too to carry it off.

CountessDracula · 16/03/2004 20:40

Gone off it now!

Yes we are going to have granite grooves!c

OP posts:
madgirl · 16/03/2004 21:05

yeah cd was thinking about it on way home and reckon that even with cleaner it would be a constant source of irritation to you. have you chosen the rest of the kitchen?
