Since when did Revels have a raisin one in amongst the other 'real' chocolates?

I mean honestly.

I only eat chocolate when I have bad PMT - pay no attention to it for the other 3 weeks of the month and I haven't had Revels for ages but imagine my horror when trying to scoff a packet today and I got a nasty, squishy one.

Tried to figure out what it was - not the orange, not the coffee and then looked on the packet and they have put a raisin covered chocolate one in!! I mean really - trying to sneak a but of fruit into a perfectly good pack of chocolates!!

you see this is a strange one

i love revels

and i love choc raisins

but agree it is just plain wrong for raisins to lurk in revels

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 13:21

yes I totally agree - chocolate covered raisins are my other PMT snack (that and wine gums - and everyone knows not to touch my wine gums in PMT week )

but chocolate covered raisins need their own separate packet not sneaked into a totally innocent packet of Revels

dh was very perturbed about this as he really doesn't liek choc raisings

revels had always been a russian roulette for him as he hates the coffee ones (my fave) but now he daren't indulge

Tutter · 11/08/2006 13:23

raisings

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 13:24

mmm coffee ones my fave aswell

v difficult to exclude those because you can't tell them apart from the others

(poor dh, more for you )

OP posts:
Tutter · 11/08/2006 13:26

yes but i always had an excuse to get them (to share) but not any more

i used to have to go though them verrry carefully trying to identify the coffee offenders (as you say, impossible to do at the same time as keeping orange ones - so i got them too) and select the maltesers for him. a few offenders always snuck in

AvaLou · 11/08/2006 13:27

I once got a packet of Revels that was entirely Maltesers. I trult felt like crying. If I wanted sodding Maltesers I'd have bought Maltesers!

I don't like the coffee ones so try to sniff them out first and give them to DH. But surely they have always had raisin ones in them?

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 13:28

nooooo back in the old days when Revels were Revels they were no raisins

honestly, if I got a pack of Revels and it was all maltesers (my least favourite) I think I would cry too

OP posts:
Tutter · 11/08/2006 13:29

no no no avalou

but they have ejected one of the old ones in favour of the raisins

what was it foxinsocks? peanuts?

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 13:29

I know - there used to be peanuts and they have obviously replaced the peanuts with raisins (it all becomes clearer now)

OP posts:
AvaLou · 11/08/2006 13:30

I know! and they aren't even 'real' maltesers, just a soggy squidgy lookalikey.

no coconut in Revels

it's orange, coffee, caramel (used to be harder, more toffee like), malteser, chocolate (the galaxy style flat buttons) and raisin (instead of peanut)

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 13:34

actually the worst centre for chocolate I think is strawberry

how anyone can eat those strawberry ones in a box of quality street is beyond me

don't think so (although your post did make me temporarily doubt my revels knowledge!)

Lol at us 'Revels' experts.
One frightening day I thought they had been discontinued as my newsagennt (wrongly) told me so.

quality street def had a coconut one in it (innit!)

was it the shiny blue one?

OP posts:
AvaLou · 11/08/2006 13:51

Yep shiny blue is coconut.
Does anyone remember vice versas? They were so good!

Iklboo · 11/08/2006 13:55

DH & I knew we were made for each other when we realised he likes all the Quality Street I dont and vice versa

AvaLou · 11/08/2006 14:09

Lol! With me and DH he hates veg on pizzas and I hate the crusts so we swap. He isn't a salad/ veg type but loves meat so we can get meals in restaurants and swap bits of meat for bits of veg and both be satisfied.
It's like Jack Spratt.

foxinsocks · 11/08/2006 14:19

I don't remember vice versas but then (despite this thread!), I'm really not a chocolate fan.

I could probably answer any question on crisps though!

OP posts:
AvaLou · 11/08/2006 14:25

Ooh vice versas were like minstrels, but the brown shell had white choc and the white shell had milk choc. So nice! I loved those 'secret' bars too, like a big ferrero rocher but less sickly.

I too am more of a savoury girl, though I have choc once a week, so what crisps do it for you?
