Microwaves ...

Any recommendations on buying microwave with grill versus standard micro ... is grill worth the extra or just something else to go wrong? Either way not spending too much - both under #100 (Panasonic / Sharp).

Thanks

We have the Sharp grill/oven/microwave thing and love it. Not sure about grill on its own (without the oven bit) but the best part is always having an "overflow" for our oven/grill (we don't have a double oven) plus baked potatoes are brill (nice and crispy skins!).

Couldn't live with a "standard" microwave now, would have to have all three combined

i have the sharp all in one and have never used the grill but keep meaning to try it.

We've got a Panasonic all in one and I rarely use our "normal" oven. I find the grill a bit of a faff though, use the micro and convection oven features all the time. Highly recommended!

Ours is a grill/oven/microwave (8 years old now). We don't have a grill in our oven so we have to use it. Its ok as a grill but you've got no control over the temperature of the grill (and can't move things closer either). So its a bit slow. Cheese on toast just doesn't work - the cheese turns into rubber, I assume grill isn't hot enough.

But we use it as an oven on its own or combined with microwave a lot and that's great.

I have Panasonic microwave with grill (not oven) - it's definitely worth it for jacket spuds, warming pastry (pasties etc - not soggy), and cooking frozen gratins. A friend who has a similar one uses it to cook sausages (it comes with a round grilling attachment on legs).

We make cheese on toast in ours without the grill, zerub - make toast in toaster, put cheese on bread, microwave for 20-30 secs until cheese melts - it's not as nice as proper grilled cheese but not rubbery.

I have baumatic one with a grill, i never ever use the grill part. Next time I would just get a normal one without the grill so there are less instructions to read and buttons to press.
