Economic but decent sized car??

We are changing cars and looking for something a bit slower drinking. DH is looking at executive sallon type things but as I am not middle aged, don't wear a suit, don't commute to work and not male I don't want one. I want a decent sized family car, would like extra seats but realise I may be pushing it at that. I like chunky and high but of corse that type arn't good on fuel economy.

Any ideas or should I get a bike?

How much, skribble? The greenest car is Toyota Prius I think, petrol/electric hybrid, but it only has 5 seats and is quite dear.

I should have said second hand under £7000. I just want a car that isn't going to cost me a fortune if I have to travel far.

Ch 4 Prius review

The Postman-Pat-stylee Fiat Doblo does a 7-seater. You could look at that?

Ah, OK - not a lot about but you can get quite a new Doblo for under £7k - Autotrader

There are Priuses for that price but they are much older - here

The Primus shap would certainly appeal to DH, do you plug it in at night?

He has already made it clear that he hates the Doblo, it is a bit bogging .

I said a mini would do.
