dh abroad (US) and has just gone shopping and found lots of sales and was getting me some jeans

I know pre kids (i.e. a very long time ago) I used to fit into Levis that were a size 30 30 but have just tried to measure my waist (i.e. above my fat belly gutbucket bit) and I reckon it is around a comfortable 33 (or a breathing in 32) but he just looked at jeans (well got woman in shop to look) with those waist measurements and said they look huge?? I'm normally a comfortable size 12 so does 33 sound right or have I measured wrong?

thats prob right, but why not get the american sizing as their 12 is a continental 8.
must be a coversion chart somewhere

me again

depends on cut of jeans and your shape

i have a wide waist (alternatively known as fat belly) but narrow hips and flat arse (really selling myself here aren't i) so only need a size 29 or 30 in low rise jeans like seven for all mankind, but would need mahoosive ones if they were higher waisted.

what is he looking at?

southeastastra · 31/07/2006 18:15

sounds right, same as me! just make sure they are dealing with inches

Tutter · 31/07/2006 18:16

btw i'm usually a size 12

foxinsocks · 31/07/2006 18:17

thing is, if I do those low waisted ones, my fat belly gutbucket sits on top of it and looks oh so attractive (have a pair that feel so comfortable but really make me look like Waynetta Slob). Have asked him to get standard fit ones (so not low waisted).

I looked at their size conversion chart but it wasn't the same as like in GAp where you just take 4 sizes off or whatever you do. It had measurements and the US size 8 ones looked really weird.

thanks everyone - I think you are right tutter and it prob looks bigger because it's got a bit more to go over!!

if they're cheap i'd risk a couple of pairs close to what you think will fit - you can always sell them on ebay if they're wrong

foxinsocks · 31/07/2006 18:21

thanks

can't really do ebay but get the feeling dh spent about 1 minute in the clothes shop so I'm prob lucky to get the one pair!

I have a 33 inch waist but I'm a size 14 in jeans.

foxinsocks · 31/07/2006 18:31

thanks kbear - I guess I prob should have done my hips aswell but I hate anything tight on my waist and they had just the right leg measurement (I've got short legs so can never buy trousers in shops that don't do different leg measurements!) so fingers crossed they'll fit (otherwise you could find yourself with a new pair of jeans!)

actually have just measured my hips and everything else and I must be virtually the same size as you tutter because my hips are only an inch or so bigger than my waist
