2004 or 2005 Mountain Buggy urban?

accessorizequeen · 29/07/2006 15:06

Nearly convinced myself to swap mugaboo for mb urban but will have to buy 2nd hand to justify doing this as mb will be 5th pushchair I have purchased!
Any advice on whether to get newer version or if 2004 version will be ok? Are changes to 2005 worth hanging out for as turn up less on ebay? Neither dp or I tall, so extendable handlebar is not an issue (although I do quite like them). We have sheepskin for extra padding & buggysnuggle as well. DS1 2.7 and DS2 due in December. Did read about 2005 model being less suitable for off-roading, has anyone found that to be true as I want to take it round local woods & so forth although not up mountains thus not considering the terrain.
There is 2004 model on ebay now which is bargain with carrycot, whereas 2005 models seem to go for more. Help!

yep, shops are fine with it, well all the ones i go in are, its not what id call nippy, but iv never had a problem with it being too big. plus the basket is big so you can shove loads of shopping under there

amazonianwoman · 25/09/2006 17:11

I'VE GOT ONE I'VE GOT ONE I'VE GOT ONE

Loving it already, and DD says "I like my new mountain buggy"

And now I must formally apologise for being so indecisive over the last 5 mths. Sorry
And thank you for your words of wisdom

lanismum · 25/09/2006 17:36

excellent
glad you finally made your mind up, isnt it lovely to push?

amazonianwoman · 25/09/2006 19:09

Well, have only pushed it round the house so far as need to pump tyres and couldn't reach pump in the garage, but tomorrow morning there'll be no stopping us - whey hey!

accessorizequeen · 25/09/2006 20:31

Oh, AW so sorry I wasn't around in your hour of need!! Just got back from weekend at CentreParcs with MB....Glad you got persuaded by others (and yourself), you'll absolutely love it I swear! We were v.happy with ours on the weekend, such a doddle to push & fitted loads in the basket. Even DP is now persuaded I think, commented on how easy it was to go over bumps etc where bug couldn't.
So when's the bug going on ebay then ? I hadn't got round to posting about this but I put the shopping basket in the washing machine (as it said you could!!!) & it got trashed so I have to get another one from bugaboo before I can sell it.

Hope you and your dd have a lovely week with it, my ds still v.happy with it although he says he's too big & his little brother can have it in December

AQ - glad you had a great holiday

Can't believe what happened to your underseat bag - because that's exactly what happened to mine this weekend It got stuck in the door on the spin cycle and the bottom ripped (not right through but hardly ideal for selling - sooo annoyed!!) Didn't happen 1st time I washed it...

Do you know where to get a new one from?? Have emailed bugaboo 3 times with no response

Anyway, off for a walk with the MB

accessorizequeen · 26/09/2006 12:28

Rats, AW, I was going to email bugaboo too! Might contact the shop I bought it from, see if they can get one for me (still under warranty I think). I'm really annoyed actually, as had cleaned everything else & was going to take photos.
are you taking MB for walk today?!

amazonianwoman · 27/09/2006 22:18

Finally got a reply from Bugaboo, retail price for new underseat bag is £24.95 and you have to order via a retailer eg John Lewis. But hopefully yours will be covered under warranty

hub2dee · 27/09/2006 22:33

Just a quick post to say "I told you so"

V. glad you're all happy.

amazonianwoman · 28/09/2006 12:28

OH MY WORD!!!

How nice is the MB to push??!! In fact, I don't even need to push it, I just walk along behind it

I didn't think anything could surpass the bug for ease of pushing, but the MB knocks its little Dutch socks off.

Happy happy happy

hub2dee · 28/09/2006 12:37

Can you imagine my frustration then, stuck here behind this screen, trying to tell a Mugaboo die-hard that they might be happier with an MB ?

LOL

amazonianwoman · 28/09/2006 20:22

OK OK you were right all along. Us women just don't like to be told, we have to spend hours/weeks/months deliberating

Off now to research the perfect baby sling for next March. Unless of course you can advise me right now to save the stress

accessorizequeen · 28/09/2006 22:01

Ooh, that sounds wonderful AW, it is the business to push round, I can't wait to buy a carrycot and push ds2 round in it in December!
And s'alright, think hub took quite a while to decide on the terrain vs urban, didn't you hub? do you think it's something about MB's as I was raving about them on another thread last week too...

Isn't your ergo alright as a newborn sling btw?

OP posts:
hub2dee · 28/09/2006 22:10

Yeah, I spent an age figuring out swivel vs. fixed front wheel, LOL. Not as long as aw mind....

Sorry, know nowt about slings. We ended up with a Baby Bjorn which I don't think is actually all that great, but many people like it. I did a mammoth sling thread when I was contemplating...

accessorizequeen · 28/09/2006 22:16

Or me for that matter, and this is my 5th pushchair as dp never fails to remind me (although I noticed he wouldn't let me push the mb on the w/end).
we got an baby bjorn active too, and I hated it, I refuse to use it again despite the exorbitant price tag.
How's the trike going hub? (speaking of another product thread you started

OP posts:
hub2dee · 28/09/2006 22:21

It's excellent. But the steering lock isn't 100% perfect, so you need to keep using the pole to keep it straight IYSWIM. I don't know if another brand might be better in this respect. It won't matter when she's riding alone, but that won't be for a while...

amazonianwoman · 28/09/2006 22:29

Good lord, if you're discussing steering locks on trikes, then I'm not that bad

I had a baby bjorn active, bought for £60, used quite a bit altho' hated it, DD dribbled in it quite a lot, and I sold it about 20mths later for £50!!! Result!

The Ergo is great from around 6mths, but I'd like a wraparound/ring sling/coorie or something for a newborn.

AQ - I'll defo get a carrycot too, probably from ebay. If you need one for Dec, would you be ready to sell by beginning of March ?? To me?!? Bit soon probably...

Can't wait to take MB to the Lakes tomorrow

accessorizequeen · 29/09/2006 07:19

Hub, still waiting for ds to ride his and he's 3 in dec...I can't actually take the steering lock off now, once she can steer I guess it won't matter so much!
AW, thought ergo had baby insert so you could use from newborn, but I'm going to buy a ring sling (or loan one) there've been a few discussions in products lately. I'd sell our bbjorn but then dp quite likes it I think. They cost 70 now! And I've been looking for carrycots on ebay for a while now, but will wait till a bit closer to the birth. Have to buy a carseat (we sold ours as couldn't stand it) and if we can afford it, an amby nest, poor little thing has nothing to sleep/sit in at the moment! You never know ds2 might grow out of it by March but I was hoping it would last a little longer than that!!! do you have a buyer for your bug, I thought you'd lined one up? Although I suppose you've got to wait for the shopping basket now, I shall email bugaboo today if I can find that pesky warranty car again.

AQ - did you sell your aubergine Bugaboo Frog? Just noticed aaronsmummy is looking for one on classifieds-wanted.

Ignore me if I'm weeks out of date!

amazonianwoman · 22/11/2006 23:32

here

accessorizequeen · 23/11/2006 13:10

Hey, aw. Haven't replaced the shopping basket yet, got quoted 45 pounds & haven't had time to ring & ask anyone else! I'm nearly 37 weeks, so a bit knackered & disorganised. Really would like to sell it, then I can have some money to buy a carrycot for the mb, haven't been able to get one on ebay, they're so expensive new. How's your mb, and did you r dd like her new bed etc? You must be nearly 3rd trimester by now?

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 23/11/2006 13:32

Hi AQ - I got a new underseat bag for the Frog for £24.95 + about £5 postage from lullabys - great service, took just over a week, whereas everyone else either couldn't (be bothered to) source one or quoted 6 wks. Definitely recommend them

I sold my Bugaboo on here a couple of weeks ago for £380 incl accessories, so v happy. Then bought a MB carrycot from ebay for £47 from a local seller this week, so doubly happy And we love the MB.

Maybe you could sell your bug to aaronsmummy and get the new underseat bag sent direct to her? That's what I did, just showed receipt when I delivered it.

I'm amazingly organised for me. Almost 26wks, want to get loads done before Xmas/NY 'cos I know time will just fly by afterwards, yikes.

DD loves her big girl's bed but keeps kicking the duvet off so she's still in a grobag - will probably have to cut holes in the end as she's nearly 2.5 and I'm not buying the 3yr+ size.

Fully understand that you're knackered now, hope you're well. Good luck

accessorizequeen · 23/11/2006 15:51

Thanks v.much for that tip, wish I had posted before now! Just emailed lullabys about it. I have a buyer interested locally, but haven't even taken any photos yet to send to her. Will have to buy a new carrycot unless one pops up v.soon on ebay!
Is there some sort of gadget that keeps duvets on? I'm sure I remember seeing one somewhere that you clip to the sheet & duvet. Can't believe she'll go in a grobag, what about one of those fleecy toddler sleepsuits, they come in larger sizes!
Best go & get some more things done, thanks for the advice.

accessorizequeen · 27/11/2006 11:15

Ooh, hadn't seen that one, I'm excited now as Ilkley relatively close, may even be able to pick it up. thanks! Must go & order shopping basket for bugaboo now!
