2004 or 2005 Mountain Buggy urban?

accessorizequeen · 29/07/2006 15:06

Nearly convinced myself to swap mugaboo for mb urban but will have to buy 2nd hand to justify doing this as mb will be 5th pushchair I have purchased!
Any advice on whether to get newer version or if 2004 version will be ok? Are changes to 2005 worth hanging out for as turn up less on ebay? Neither dp or I tall, so extendable handlebar is not an issue (although I do quite like them). We have sheepskin for extra padding & buggysnuggle as well. DS1 2.7 and DS2 due in December. Did read about 2005 model being less suitable for off-roading, has anyone found that to be true as I want to take it round local woods & so forth although not up mountains thus not considering the terrain.
There is 2004 model on ebay now which is bargain with carrycot, whereas 2005 models seem to go for more. Help!

the stokke ?( baulk emotion)

hub2dee · 30/07/2006 22:11

I liked the height-adjustable double-up-as-a-highchair-when-necessary bit.

Couldn't fold the sodding thing though.

I hope you are worrying about whether you did anything untoward with a fresher.

accessorizequeen · 30/07/2006 22:37

Ru talking about stokke now or bugaboo, hub? Bug sold to dp on basis that it could be parked at table & used as high chair. Uh-huh.
'wanted out so soon' not really soon - think we bought bug when ds 9 months, he's now 2.7, only rethinking things coz ds2's on the way. They say fold's not tricky after you've done it a few times, but a few hundred?! Just can't face it again with newborn & toddler squawling in car.
Will be getting mb carrycot so bub can look at me in early months (had jane matrix for ds) but after that I do think they prefer to be looking at the world & I've also got ds1 to be dealing with on walks. I was also thinking of talking to/looking at the baby a few times during the rest of the day & using a sling more. Anyway, when ds was little, I used to turn the seat round anyway so he couldn't see me scoffing chocolate!

Fantastic!!! The mugaboo vs MB debate is back

After moving out of the carrycot, my DD spent exactly 4mths rear facing before I had to turn her round or risk her falling out trying to peer round the side. So rear facing is a bit of a short-lived bonus. And her speech is vastly ahead of her years lol. In fact she asked me to buy the pink flowery MB when I tried her in it a few months ago

Folding the mug isn't difficult, it's just a pita. And you look a right t*t if you go offroad with it.

I'm selling up and getting a MB as soon as I know things are OK with new baby.

accessorizequeen · 31/07/2006 14:55

What if new baby is a boy . Pink ones are very cute tho, saw one on ebay recently. But I do have aubergine bug, so it's a bit girly anyway.
Don't suppose you're in Scotland, AW - there's a nice red mb on ebay right now for £250 barely been used...

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 31/07/2006 22:07

Exactly, there's no way we're getting a pink flowery buggy, DH would be mortified. Altho' they do look nice, but just not

Nowhere near Scotland unfortunately.

amazonianwoman · 31/07/2006 22:11

Now, I may be suffering from pg brain, but I can't see a red Scottish MB anywhere on ebay??? Thought I'd have a look as I have friends in Scotland.

Purlease can you post link??!!

accessorizequeen · 31/07/2006 22:18

It's in Strathkinness, Fife - that is Scotland, right!! Pick up only, going for £250.
Red Mountain buggy . do post if you buy it!

I'd love a mountain buggy. I think I saw one in bluewater today but it looked tiny and too short even for me?

amazonianwoman · 31/07/2006 22:23

AQ - 10/10 for geography definitely Scotland. Have emailed Scottish friends to see whether they fancy a little drive!! Thx for the link.

accessorizequeen · 31/07/2006 22:29

Rats, wanted that one but dad's in inverness & not coming down until new year!
Xena, not quite sure what you mean about tiny & short, wouldn't have described mb that way & others say bigger kids (up to 4) fit in them fine?!

AW, did you buy it? I bought one one ebay last night, new but much cheaper than I'd seen so v.pleased. Very excited to get one after all this time. Hope 1st trimester blues easing off...

amazonianwoman · 04/08/2006 20:14

Yay, you've got one at last You MUST post when you've received it and taken it for a test drive!!

Did you get a 2005 or 2004? What colour? Mind if I ask how much you paid? Have you sold your mugaboo yet?

I couldn't get hold of Scottish friends so didn't get the red one

Can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Thought I had lots more energy this morning so cleaned the house from top to bottom and now I'm knackered and in my PJs already...

amazonianwoman · 04/08/2006 20:15

Doh, I'm so brain dead, you got a new one so obviously not 2004!

Anyway, how much???!!!

accessorizequeen · 04/08/2006 21:05

Well, at least you can rest well knowing the house is clean!
It was £300 + 20 quid postage, which I thought was really good given the cheapest I'd found was 370 new so far. Navy. And it meant I got a 2005 one, which I thought was worth it because I'll have a buggy board (ds will be 3 when ds2 born) plus the extendable handle is useful. Will try and pick up a 2nd hand carrycot on ebay by December. Feel v.excited, but could hate it so keeping the bug until it arrives & I've checked it out. Bugs going for good prices on ebay, so hoping I won't end up losing much money. Plus I'm fairly sure it won't fit in the car we've got, but we were planning to upgrade before the baby comes to an estate. PS also bought bed for ds, a junior beech one from Mothercare, yet to arrive. Felt in the end that we might end up with the boys sharing & having bunk beds (dp v.keen on this!) so this seemed a good compromise, it's just 2 6 wide instead of 3 and a bit lower to the ground. Really pleased with the duvet I bought from m/care too, v.nice quality. How's your research going?

Looking forward to a (hopefully positive) write up when you get it !

amazonianwoman · 10/08/2006 13:07

Got it yet???????????????????

accessorizequeen · 10/08/2006 16:33

Nope, had to wait for cheque to clear. Hopefully coming tomorrow but DS & DP going camping all weekend so...watch this space. How're you doin' AW?

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 10/08/2006 19:38

A weekend to yourself with just a MB for company - heaven!!

accessorizequeen · 10/08/2006 21:00

hee hee, yes just me and mb watching dvd's all night...

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 11/08/2006 13:16

Don't watch any rugged outdoor DVDs with tight turn-on-a-sixpence enclosed spaces, the MB might get too excited. Buggy porn

accessorizequeen · 11/08/2006 19:29

Lovely as the sound of buggy porn is mb not arriving till Monday. All my plans in disarray. Well, at least ds will be here to try it out (might make up for bed not appearing, he spends quite a lot of time at the window these days waiting for his truck to come).

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 11/08/2006 21:05

Oh well! Which bed have you decided on?

The Bed Decision has now taken over my life...

accessorizequeen · 11/08/2006 21:20

Well, ordered a junior beech bed & animals duvet cover from M/care, mattress from ebay. Now have to return duvet I bought due to your thread about 4 tog being enough for toddlers as I had bought 10.5! Mattress arrived (wish I had splashed out for better one), duvet cover gorgeous, bed another week. Now thinking about bed for baby as quite keen on one of those amby's nest things (ds didn't sleep v.well until 15 mo). I'm actually getting bored with myself as all I seem to do is think and talk about beds, room layouts, nursery colours, buggies and real nappies not to mention nice maternity clothes as I have wedding to attend. Sigh. How's your 1st trimester going?

At least you haven't produced powerpoint presentation for your dh (did you see that one?), well not yet anyway.
