What are your First Car memories?

My memory is buying an old Ford Fiesta 1 litre (terracotta rusty coloured) no backseat seatbelts. I hadn't driven since passing my test months before and had finally saved enough to buy this car. Didn't even test drive it, dad checked it for me and said it was ok.

I drove off to the nearest petrol station and, once stopping by the pump realised that I didn't know what type of fuel it took; leaded, unleaded or diesel. Had to go into the kiosk and ask to borrow their phone to call my dad (before mobiles). The shame Blush.

I loved having my own car, sailing past the freezing, bored people at my usual bus stop. I got a promotion too, and was able to drive out to site visits Smile all over the north west. Those were the days...

My memory of my first car is shitness of unbelievable proportions - a Talbot Samba with barely any clutch, no rear heater, in car heater only worked on one side of the car, no radio....oh and then it decided to rust from the inside out I still loved you though you old rustbucket

Sitting in the boot of my dad's Renault 12 estate with our cat, on a sunny day, aged 2, passing Dad sheets of kitchen roll while he did something messy with oil! Grin

My first car memory is bouncing about on the shelf-like dicky seat in my fathers Lotus, I was about three years old. He regularly used to take me and my sister out for rides in it, belting round Oxfordshire with no seatbelts...

The first car I drove was my mother's Mini, and the first car I owned was a Nissan Sunny, a truly indescribably awful car, whose only virtue was that she'd been given to me as a gift, so at least cost nothing more than fuel and insurance.
