JackieNo · 27/07/2006 12:01

Somebody on here mentioned that it could be sun cream - for some reason doesn't appear till clothes are washed?

LIZS · 27/07/2006 12:02

Could a safety pin, coin or similar have got caught in the seal or filter ?

biglips · 27/07/2006 12:03

well its my dp t-shirt that he didnt wear the sunscream on as its seems to be on the bottom edge of his t-shirt where the stains is

I don't think this will help - but I once had all my whites coming out first with red blotches and then pale pink all over. In desperation I finally called out the repairman who found a once maroon sock that my toddler had stuffed into the soap dispenser!

Check the soap dispenser

I am having the same problem.. wonder about the suncream as it never happened in the winter...

I thought it was my iron but then realised that it was on clothes that I don't iron...

I am going to run a wash with no clothes in to see if due to build up of powder...

Any other ideas most welcome...

I think you'll find it is suncream. I had similar experience last year - some lovely white tops ruined by it and it only appeared after washing. I phoned Boots but they said their Soltan carries a warning - it did - so couldn't do anything. This year I combed the shops for a cream without a warning on it. I bought Garnier Ambre Solaire as there's no warning so thought it would be safe. However, again stains have appeared. I phoned the helpline. They said a stain devil no. 3 should take it out. They're also refunding the cost of the cream and the cost of the stain devil. If the stains don't come out then I'm to phone them back, presumably to get some money towards replacing the three t-shirts that have been ruined. I have another cream, from Australia, which definitely doesn't stain but sadly have run out. If anyone knows which ingredient of sun cream causes the staining then I'd love to know.

My stains have now come out in the 2nd wash so hopefully the others will also..
