Anyone bought a VW Touran?

I may have asked this before, but our car has to get bigger and WhatCar says these are good, but VW dealers are always difficult (and pricy!) to deal with I find and I want to know how good the Touran is before getting stressed negotiating. Ta

Hi Bear, I don't own one but we have recently bought our new car and when choosing we looked at various reviews. Top Gear said that it was very low down and didn't perform as well as the Scenic and C-Max. I still have the full review and can scan and send you if you like. We have the C-Max btw .

P.S. Can I ask if your bigger car will have anything to do with the amount of accesories you are buying for your E3 and needing somewhere to put them?

you know me too well

Bear

Sorry, when I said low down I meant in terms of driving position not scoring on their review. It is the best for boot space though. I suppose it depends on what you are after. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you. Good luck with the dealers also.

Cheers B - the huge boot will come in handy for the buggy and all its gubbins, but we want the flexibility of two extra seats that can be folded away when not in use, which is why I've had to discount the C-Max. Does it work for you?

I got totally put off buying a new car by this site, but I respect it very much - European crash safety site comparing all different models and now it compares child crash safety. It made me feel that I would rather wait and save for a newer better safer car.

Ta O.o.P., our current car scores low on all three tests, so I guess we need to change sooner rather than later.

aloha · 04/03/2004 14:17

Is the Scenic good? Was thinking of getting a decent used one soon. Hired a Zafira and thought it was good but too big for scaredycat Mrs Can'tPark.

MrsCodswallop · 04/03/2004 14:19

oh poo aloha - and you such a n emancipated woman!!

the zafira is based on an astra wheel base..

We just bought a Honda Stream which is the same sort of size as the Zafira and the Touran, price sort of in the middle between the two, spacier than both of them, though, I find. Even with all the seats up you still have a boot space big enough to fit in shopping and a lightweight buggy. The only thing that was better in the Touran was that there were more cubby holes - but I didn't feel that was worth an extra £2000.

MrsCodswallop · 04/03/2004 14:23

yes is htat the one thatlooks like a larger focus?

aloha · 04/03/2004 14:26

I can't help my poor brain Coddy. I can't judge distances. It's like dyslexia. I once gave the measurements to my dh to get a box big enough to put a lamp into (wedding present) but didn't tell him what for. He queried the measurements, and I got snappy with him so he duly found a box the right size and brought it home. It was so big we could both get into it. Parking is not easy for those of us with this unfortunate spacial disability

Bear, C-Max is great but boot is a different shape from our old car (Scenic) and there are less cubby holes. Back seats are good and upright although we had probs with finding car seats initially, I still reckon we could get another baby seat in there if needed .

OOP, we used that site too and chose the C-Max because it scored highly on child safety .

Aloha, I loved my Scenic (old shape) and it was easy to park so I'm sure you wouldn't have a prob there. Very good also in large motorway collisions - it saved our lives .
