Another car seat problem

I'm sure this has been done before but I can't find it, so apologies. DS is not quite 6 months and has just about grown out of Primo Viaggio car seat. He can't sit up unaided, isn't quite 9 kgs and I don't want him front facing anyway until he is a good few months older, so he can't go into DD's old Renaissance. We tried the Britax First Class which goes both ways when we first got a seat but the inept guy in Halfords couldn't get it to fit. I will try somewhere else and have another go with someone who knows what they are doing, but if it doesn't fit has anyone got any ideas about something else I could look at ? Many thanks

kittypickle - we got into this sort of problem with DS in that basically he fell out with baby seat at 6 months and would NOT be content/sleep in it (even on trip from Yorkshire to Cornwall). We eventually bought a Mothercare forwards/backwards one which was more upright and he seemed happier with. Thing is that it bust - the clip you fastened round the car seat belt to tighten it broke off. We'd had it over a year by then but took it back and got some of our money back and upgraded to a high back booster with integral harness because also got a Maxi Cosi Priori in DH's car.

Try your local council or Google for Road Safety Officers. We ended up driving to Enfield to see an excellent RSO there, who has a stock of virtually every carseat so he can find the best fit for your car.

The Britax website has Fit-Finder where you enter your car model etc and it will give you advice on whether the seat will fit in your car and where's the best place to put it.

We got a Club Class extra because it could face backwards as well.

We've got a Bebe Confort Iseos (see kiddicare - car seats Birth to 4 ).

When facing backwards its quite awkward to get the baby in and out because the seat belt strap is in the way but I think that would be a problem with all seats.

It seems comfy, is easy to fit. It has a dial on the front to make it recline more or less (although has to be fully reclined when facing backwards). Also has another dial to make it wider as your baby grows which is nice. And it comes in purple which was the deciding factor!

this site has several different rear-facing seats (although don't buy from them!)

We have the Bebe Confort Iseos too - fits both our cars, Saab and Seat, ok, and also previous Citroen. Also has a handy feature in the little hooks for keeping the straps out of the way when you're putting the child into the seat - saves an awful lot of fiddling around behind backs/under bottoms to fish them out again once they've been sat on!
