Broken car seat head rest - can it be replaced?

Long story but the head rest on my Britax Evolva 123 has snapped in two.

Does anyone know if you can replace just the head rest bit (the fibreglass inner part - not the plastic shell)? I really dont want to have to fork out another £130 on another car seat.

I am and and very p**d off.

I have no idea. Have you tried phoning the shop you got it from? Hopefully someone may come up with a wiser word.

Even if she doesn't I would still like to know as am considering for dd who is too light for a booster seat on its own. I don't spend £130 lightly !

NannyL · 25/07/2006 22:14

ok.... this seat hasnt been around very long has it?

Surely it cant be that old?

there for cant you take it back to the shop and ask for a new one?

Sorry, didnt get back here last night as DS1 was sick.

The car seat has been fantastic. I have been very pleased with it. It is strong, robust, easy to use etc etc.

However, the head rest got broken when DS1 and I were struggling to get him in to it yesterday. He was having a major tantrum and pushed away from me up against the head rest with all his 4 year old might towards the headrest at the wrong angle snapping it. You had to see it to believe it really.

I would still recommend it. There is no way it would have snapped like this if he had been sitting in it and we had (God forbid) been in an accident.

I shall ring the shop I bought it from today and see what they say. It is only 7 months old

I rang the shop, they were very helpful and called Britax for me. Apparently the bit that is broken can be replaced and they are sending it to me for a 'nominal fee' (whatever that is).

The shop offered to lend me anopther one, which I will get if the new part doesnt arrive by the weekend. I have not used the car today and dont plan any long journeys in the rest of the week (the shop is more than half an hour drive away, so it seems silly to drive that far to get a hire seat unecessarily).

I'll let you know when it arrives!
