for £49.99 I don't suppose anyone has bought one or knows the make/model so I can give dh more info on it?

Looks good i too may have to visit superdrug. I hope all stores are stocking it!

serenity · 24/07/2006 10:39

Double check, as I don't think it comes with a memory card - so the only storage space that comes with it is the 32MB HD, how much recording time does that hold? It doesn't say anywhere on the specs.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 24/07/2006 10:40

I have permission from dh now so I am going to get one at lunchtime!

I don't know I'm afraid I'm not the technical!

It's a fixed focus lens as well, so you can only record things at a certain distance if you want it in focus. It seems to have a choice of two settings macro (close up) or portrait which will be the 'normal' setting. You're definitely getting what you pay for, which is something very very basic.

Kelly1978 · 24/07/2006 10:52

that would be a great christmas present for an older child!

whoopsfallenoveragain · 24/07/2006 10:52

OK maybe I've changed my mind!!!

That's what I was thinking Kelly, it just seems a bit too basic for a main family camcorder, but I could be too picky I suppose, I loathe fixed focus cameras too , and I'm a bit of a man when it comes to technology. I like my gadgets.

Kelly1978 · 24/07/2006 11:00

me too We've ordered a new slr digital camera, I'm all excited!

serenity · 24/07/2006 11:12

kelly. DH would love one, but it's the money too skint atm. I want to save up and get one for his birthday next year. He used to be really into photography, was very proud of his vast collection of lenses, then the camera packed up and we had kids so never replaced it. He's just not interested in taking pictures with my camera (nice, but unflashy nonSLR Kodak)

Sorry, off at a tangent there!

Kelly1978 · 24/07/2006 12:08

our snappy finally packed in last week, so we had to replace it and thought might as well go for it. We're getting a canon, and going to use the old lenses from dp's aunts film slr - you could maybe do the same and so would only need to buy the digital body. The lens work slightly diff on the digital so the focus difference has to be converted, but otherwise they are fine.

Kelly1978 · 24/07/2006 12:09

focus distance

serenity · 25/07/2006 00:09

Did you get one in the end Whoops?

whoopsfallenoveragain · 25/07/2006 06:40

No, I've decided to persuade dh to let me get a better one that can be save onto tape or dvd as I would want it to last a long time!
