Car seat - 9 months to 11 years with harness

DS is 2.8 and currently in a 9 months to 4 years carseat. DD is 10 months and still in her infant carrier. When she has outgrown that, I want her to go in DS's current carseat, but he needs to go somewhere!

As he isn't enormous (about 29lb or so) and also because I don't want him going in a carseat with just an adult belt, I want to get one that has a harness as well. I have a feeling that these seats aren't as safe as the 9 months to 4 years ones - can anyone point me in the direction of anything about this?

I know the alternative is to get another 9 months to 4 years car seat for DD, but then we will end up with a lot of car seats (2 cars so need more car seats).

I would wait until your ds is 3 and buy a Britax Hiliner they do really well in crash tests, far better than the 9mths-11 years that have intergrated seatbelts

the britax one thats a combi seat that is called the britax something 123 did well in this years which tests... that is a 9 month - 11 year car seat

you can also buy it as a 2-3 model and that did VERY well (but thats only for when they are over 15kg.

That is the ONLY multi stage car seat that i have EVER seen thats done "ok" all the otehr ones have been rubbish and almost unsafe for children under 15kg

so the Britax something 1-2-3 is what you want

Is it the Britax Evolva or something like that? I will have an investigate.

As I don't see DS (skinny thing) being 15kg for a while, I'm not sure what to do. I know that DD will grow out of the 1st stage car seat soon as her head is nearing the top. At this rate though we're going to end up with 4 9month to 4 years carseats .

Where are you PC? We have a spare 9 mnth - 4 yrs car seat going free to a good home. I'm in Nothamptonshire.
