If you got one, what state is it in now?

My dd had one last September for her birthday. She isn't hard on her toys. It's just a mass of tangled nylon now.

Why don't they make hair on dolls so that it doesn't end up like that?

Hair on Dd1's is the same and I can count on one hand how many times she's played with it.

Dd's started to go funny quite soon after she got it. It's not much fun to play with in that state.

I just feel cross because the advert obviously captured the imaginations of lots of little girls and the thing doesn't even last.

I suppose that sums up most of the products aggressively advertised at children. You know it's junk, but they see it in the magical way it's presented. I hate to see them being deliberately ripped off and disappointed.

My charge has got one

hers is still quite ok...

but we LOVE brushing hair and making it perfect.... most of her my little ponies have near perfect hair as well (even though most are 2 + years old and she is 4)... we both can sit and spend HOURS brusing them.... and making them "pretty for weddings"

(4 YO always playes game where the ponies are getting married / being bridesmaids and need to look beutiful!
