Which digital camera?

Anybody around who knows about cameras? My little sony cybershot has finally given up and I'm looking for a new one. So far, I like the look of:
Fuji E9500
Canon 350
Nikon D50
I'm very tempted by the fuj , as it looks good value, I wouldn't be forking out loads more on extra lens, and I like the idea of the moveable screen, but I wonder if I would regret not buying a proper SLR while I'm upgrading.

I will vicariously recommend the Canon as I would lurve one but won't be able to afford one till I'm about 60!

(currently have an extremely cute and tiny ixus which goes with me everywhere and is remarkably good - examples of its Macro closeup setting \link{http://www.flickr.com/photos/70022822@N00/sets/72157594166842696/here}, and I'm no expert)

We've decided to go for the canon, so fingers crossed! The nikon looked huge in comparison, and decided might as well go for an slr.

our old camera had these settings but the quality was nowhere near as good. We had a sony cybershot, but I would never buy sony again. Thanks for the tips. I think it's going to just take a while to get the hang of it.
