I am v.pale irish family freckled skin etc.. tried self tan lotions before went orange! I have bought simple 'summer look bodY lotion' which is supposed to build a light natural tan. anyone tried this or any others? what would ou recommend for a ghost like me

i bought some of this yesterday - boots' own brand and would be interested to hear what others have made of it. how long before i see a difference...

Johnson's Holiday Skin is very good. I notice a difference within 20 minutes of using it and you can keep building it up until you get the tan you want. Was on offer at Superdrug for £2.75 aswell.Don't know if that offer's still on though.

I'm as white as a sheet (strawberry blonde) with pinkish/blue overtones - I do like to sell myself!! Anyway I bought the Dove version of the Johnsons holiday skin for my legs instead of dazzling people with them. For my colouring it was just all wrong so I've decided to go back to the natural look. I think the key is exfoliate and apply less to knees and ankles.

Thanks for the tips, I put the simple stuff on last night have a nice subtle colour on m arms but I noticed it streaked a little! but don't think it was too noticeable (lol thats what I've been telling myself anyway )
I will be putting more on tonight esp my legs so will note your advice furball!

I like Johnsons holiday skin. There is a night time one, a darker skin daytime and a lighter skin daytime one & also a firming tanning moisturising one that I spotted in Boots!

I have the lighter skin one and it's quite nice overall although I have noticed a few streaks occasionally. Also it does turn clothes and towels a bit orange so even though it doesn't say to on the bottle I've got I'd make sure it's totally dry first!

It does smell nice too & left my skin feeling nice & soft.

Can I just say that the L'oreal one is the best! I have tried them all but this by far gives the best tan. At £7 a bottle it is slightly dearer but I think it's worth the extra £2!

I bought the Nivea one on recommendation from a friend. I tried it on my legs so no one would notice if it streaked as I wear trousers to work.

I found that it was ok, but tended to get a bit orange and streaky round the ankles, I've tried it a few times, adding less or adding more but it always goes funny for me. I think that's me though not the cream. the rest of my legs though looked nicely tanned but I wasn't brave enough to bare them to anyone.
