BMW X5. Anyone have one?

And would you recommend it? I have two boys aged 9 and 11 who currently use booster seats but the older one could do without one now. I'll also have to fit a stage 1 baby seat in the back.

Depends on how old you're talking about. Nice cars but be under no illusion that once out of warranty it will not be cheap to maintain.

I have had two. Not currently got one as we have a Discovery. However X5s are great. Mine were both diesel and mpg was pretty good for such a big car. Not sure if you are talking about secondhand or new, but they are spacious, brilliant to drive and have lots of gizmos like hill descent control. As you would expect, they are well built and surprisingly quick. Wheels are wide so handling could be better in snow, but it is a great all-round car. I loved mine. Also love the Discovery too!

Thanks for the replies. My budget is about £15k so will be older than I'd like.
My friend has an X3 and she said it was difficult to get three car seats in the back. I'm guessing the X5 will be a bit roomier.

Make sure you keep a couple of grand as a contingency fund.

I have an X3 and I agree with friend that it would be a squash with 3 in back. However I find my X3 quite roomy but when an x5 pulls up next to me my car feels like a mini....I think you would find ample space and boots huge.

X5s are the best on fuel economy when compared with their competitors - plus they are fun and engaging to drive. I think they are brilliant and if I could persuade DP out of our estate car, that's what I'd have. For £15k you should get a good one.
