My daughter is a size 5E at clarks but only 11.5 months. she is very tall too and just started walking. most size 5's are too hard and i need E fitting, so this narrows my choice even further. needless to say she is bare foot, because i cannot get her size in a 'soft' style.

does anyone know a good online retailer of clarks / startrite or another reputane shoes store that aters for new walkers?

It's important to have them fitted. Different styles can affect the fit as well as the size, so it is worth going to the shop if you can.

You can't buy off the Clarks site.

Like BS said, it's better to go in and get them fitted. The person who measured her should have told you that the measurement is just a guide so you may not even end up buying a 5E.
It will all go on what style you want for her and also what brand.
Clarks and Startrite come up different in sizes.

Oh yes completely agree, we never end up with the size that they measure DS as...even within a brand like Clarkes the fitting can vary immensely depending on the style of shoe.

Where abouts are you forevermore?? if there's no large store near by that would offer a bigger variety in styles/sizes then maybe it's an excuse to go on a little shopping expedition to a fab big shopping centre...well it would be if you were a shopperholic like me!
