Is there a dishwasher that can accommodate large-ish dinner plates?

and no, we're no a bunch of troughers, it's just that the dinner plates in the dinner service we have don't fit into our dishwasher unless very strategically placed.

Well now it's gone on the blink and I want to make sure we get one that can handle the plates. Anyone have any suggestions?

we have an ancient Phillips one that came with the house
it takes our whopping pasta bowls so long as they're in the front half of the bottom rack, else they catch on something on the inside of the dishwasher when you try to wheel the basket in IYSWIM.

anyone else?

I know it's a dull subject....

Our Die-Dietrich one takes big plates - only in one place but it works okay.

I would take a plate shopping with me but then I'm not sure you're as me.

Our Smeg was reasonable. Our new indesit built in is crappola.

Our Bosch one is set especially close to the floor inside - IYSWIM. It has good clearance on bottom rack for large dinner plates and saucepans etc. Whenever i visit my sister am amazed how small hers appears to be inside.

i will second the bosch recommendation. you can change the height of the top drawer to accomodate large troughs.

How big? I have a standard Bosch and it takes our largest plates, plus baking trays laid on top, without fouling the spray arm.

JanH · 12/07/2006 20:29

(Just measured, our largest are 27cm. It also lets you tuck in oversize serving platters/baking trays at the very sides, just outside the upper rack and away from the the spray arm)

I'm sure that when we bought our Bosch recently, the brochure about all the different models actually said what height plate it could cope with. That info doesn't seem to be on the Bosch website, however, so it might be worth having a look in a shop for brochures.
