Ours did this. It was a hole in the expansion diaphram (!?) so the hot water was taking ages - eventually it stopped heating up totally. To get a boiler man out and and for the part it cost us £80. We couldnt afford it straight away so went 1 week without hot water - just boiled up kettles.

Ours did this last year too.

Does the heating work?

There's a rubber diaphragm thatmakes the water heat up (or triggers the boiler to do this) It wears out and when it gets a hole, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and so,etimes it's sluggish.

Last year it was just the hot water that didn't work on ours. This year the heating won't trigger either (I tried it - it's not normally on!) Will have to callout engineer next week .

Our neighbours were moaning about their boiler not working - no heating, only hot water. And then mentioned that it had been like that for 2 years!

biglips · 09/07/2006 17:24

well heating is fine. Dp meantioned to me that when he turned the hot tap on, the boiler flame doesnt come on but if he tap it on the boiler the flame comes on... hmmmm!
