Help - what is wrong with my fridge??

My fridge keeps leaking. It seems to frost up on the back inside and then it melts and leaks all over the bottom and then onto the floor when the door is opened. In the gap at the side of the fridge it feels like a lot of heat is coming from the back of it, is that normal? I've tried changing the temperature up and down using the dial inside but it doesn't seem to make any difference, it still leaks. Does anhyone know what the problem might be and if it is fixable? OR has it had it, and I need to buy another one?

Not sure it will help, but you could try cleaning the coils at the back (the wire grid thing which is how the heat is dispersed) either brushing it gently with a soft brush or vacuuming with the brush attachment. There's often a drain hole at the bottom of the fridge, so that excess water can run out into a little well at the back and evaporate, and on our old fridge this used to get iced up, so the water couldn't escape. We used to have to heat up a skewer and melt the ice to clear the hole. Ended up getting a new fridge in the end. Good luck!

Thanks for that Jackie. I've just pulled my fridge out to explore behind it and i located the problem! The hole where the water is supposed to drain out was blocked with scum [yuk] but I've cleaned that off and it seems fine now. It's been bugging me for months, and I wouldn't have worked it out by myself!

Oh good. We used to have to do the thing with the skewer every week, and mop out huge puddles of water from the bottom of it too. Very annoying. Glad you've got it sorted.
