Are Sindy dolls really coming back?

Just heard this on the radio. Apparently they are going to be less shapely than Barbie and more demure.

I used to love Sindy.

Sindy was a real woman.

JackieNo · 06/07/2006 17:55

We had a Tressy too, with the hair that grew. And Pippa dolls.

ohh amanda jane, wasn't she small and dumpy with blonde hair ?? and I think she had a couple of friends as well.Oh and wasn't there a younger sister as well.

GeorginaA · 06/07/2006 21:20

DAMNIT... now I want a girl

GeorginaA · 06/07/2006 21:23

Sindy Doll Mail Order - looks like they've got the new dolls. I like them, far less sluttish.

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 21:26

ah they're not the same though, they look cheaper, everything was so much better made then, although i had a sindy in the 70s

GeorginaA · 06/07/2006 21:29

No, not the same - but look more girlish, which I like (and are six thousand times better than those dire Bratz dolls)

southeastastra · 06/07/2006 21:37

i've got boys so haven't really kept in touch with dolls, but those bratz are horrible, who thought that was a good idea i wonder

cupcakes · 07/07/2006 11:51

Agree much much nicer than Bratz (and Barbie for that matter). Dd is only 3 but already says 'I like that' when she sees Bratz ads on tv. Am going to attempt to divert to Sindy.
I wonder if she still has a horse and stables. I used to have the gig (sp?)
and swimming pool
and tv studio (???)
and beach buggy
and house

So many years of birthdays and Christmas were taken up with Sindy...

oh, my Sindies were indeed demure too - remember vividly one speaking at a conference of other dolls wearing a suit and glasses. Lectern and everything.
I had the gig too - Sindy would wear a shawl and a long tartan skirt to ride in it and looked positively Victorian. My impoverished but creative mum knitted boxes of clothes for them - bikinis, tracksuits with matchign sweatbands. Bet she still has them somewhere...

The pictures on the website look curiously like the Lilydolls (but this is a Good Thing).
