Which one is the one that has the side effect of repelling insects? Can't find it on the avon website .

No idea Soupy, but tea tree and citrus oils are good so is there one with those as ingredients?

SoupDragon · 04/07/2006 10:28

it was the Woodland/original fragrance one but everything's changed. It's the only thing I've found that works and doesn't smell (too) horrid.

will have to consider TTOIL etc tho

Citronella is brilliant for repelling bugs and is quite fresh and summery - as long as you like the scent of lemons.

I use pure citronella oil mixed in a spray bottle with water. Great for a nice freshening blast in the heat.

SoupDragon · 04/07/2006 10:37

but it doesn't smell of lemons, it smells of citronella!! Which I hate.

Use pure lemon oil instead then. Almost as effective but more pleasant.

Citronella isn't as bad if you make up your own mixes and adjust the strength to suit. It is crap in those citronella candles you can buy.

I think it might be thsi one

here

its teh soft and fresh bath oil or dry spray

but teh packaging has changed so cant be sure

It used to be the bluey-green pack didn't it?

The citronella repellants smell horrid too. It's got a very specific scent underlying the citrus. Will have to think.

I emailed Avon. Aparently its the soft and fresh one and one of the ingredients int he scent is indeed cirtonella. But they've changed the formula and made the scent less strong.

So I bought some pure citronella oil fron Holland and Barrett. Do you think I can add it to a bottle of aftersun?

Not sure how it would mix because of the chemicals in the cream. Maybe try a little in a dish and see.

Vitamin E cream from the health shop makes a good base.

Will get my chemistry set out
