We used bunk beds when the boys were 4 and 2 with no issues at all. They've just gone into high sleepers at seven and five.

We had bunk beds when my first two boys were about 6 and 3 then had to get another set when next two boys needed bunks and they where younger at nearly 5 and 15 months I just added a bed guard on the bottom bunk to stop him falling out

My 3.5 year old went on the top bunk. He's fine, no chance of falling out at night! As long as they're confident with the ladder it'll be fine!
