What age is it safe to put a net/canopy by the head of a bed?

I have a 2 and a half year old DD and am really keen to put a decorative net (those hung from the ceiling) around the head of her bed but am worried that she may be too young for it. Has anyone else put this up for such a young child?

Any opinions appreciated

My dd has one - she is two, however hers is hung so that it jst goes around the cot on the side where it is against the wall IYSWIM so that it is well out of the way when she sleeps and also she won't get into trying to climb out through it as she will be faced with the wall! So hopefully no tangling problems there. She regularly climbs out of her cot but only ever in one place as she uses something next to her bed to give her a boost to get out.
