You know the ones. Apparently you apply every day and you gradually build up a tan. There is a DOVE one and a L'Oreal one and probably others.

Are they any good?

Johnsons goes streaky on me BUT NOT ON ANYONE ELSE apparently

Ellaroo · 24/06/2006 20:36

Have been using Johnsons' Holiday Skin - it is fantastic, but as always go lightly on knees & ankle bones!!!

vitomum · 24/06/2006 20:36

probably reduced cos this years consensus seems to be taht the Dove one is best. I am using up my holiday skin but at that price may re-stock. Holiday skin is by johnsons drosphilia and i think it is good!

went streaky on me frayedknot

but everyone said I just didn't put it on right

I've given up trying to look tanned, now I'm trying to push the bright white candle look

Beauregard · 24/06/2006 20:40

Holiday skin is great ,but yes do use sparingly on the knee area, mine looked like i had never seen soap and water.

vitomum · 24/06/2006 20:44

frayedknot and trinityrhino - did you both remember the 3 golden rules of fake tanning?

exfoliate
exfoliate
exfoliate

drosophila · 24/06/2006 20:45

So are they much different to the normal fake tan. I use one on my legs and I always get stressed incase the streaks etc. I liked the idea of the gradual build up.
Vitomum who says the Dove one is the best?

well i have seen a few magazine reviews where dove came out top and there was a MN thread last week where that was the consensus - can there be a greater endorsement than that! and yes i think they are less scary to apply than the actual fake tans - although you probably have to do it at least 3 days on the trot to notice anything.

FrayedKnot · 24/06/2006 20:51

Yeeeessss...

It doesn;t go streaky on my rough bits cos I avoid those. It goes streaky on my nice smooth shins.

I think my skin is weird.

Lol at bright white candle!

FrayedKnot · 24/06/2006 20:52

Honestly thoguh everyone else I know has tried it, my mum, mates at work, loads of people on here, and say it's great!

daisy1999 · 24/06/2006 21:00

anybody tried the face ones?

MrsMuddle · 24/06/2006 21:22

Yes, I'm using the nivea one. It's good, but I only use it every second day. If you have a spot, it tends to colour more there, and also round your neckline if you don't rub it in properly. But I am very fair.

BettySpaghetti · 24/06/2006 21:25

I bought a Johnsons set that had a face one and a body one -I've found both of them fine (although I am careful with exfoliating and not using too much around knees and ankles).

Furball · 24/06/2006 21:56

I too have streaky streaks with Dove and last week I had one brown leg and one white one, what happened there? and yes I did put it on both legs!
