we are moving house at the end of august 7 have decided we want to buy a new sofa, we have a gorgeous sofa that we purchased nearly 2 years ago but its cream & fabric & just does not mix with 2 young kids.

So where is the best place to go for quality & luxury?

We have a lovely leather couch from laura ashley, but you can get the same thing for half the price from ebay.

Depends where you are
Fab warehouse style place called National Brands with one based in Aintree in Liverpool - was a bit of a trek to get to but has lots of Marks and Spencers/John Lewis/Laura Ashley Stuff
alternatively we got our large brown leather sofa from Marks and Spencers about 5 years ago (they still sell it) and it still looks like new even with dd 4 1/2 and ds 22months!

(there are 4 locations)

we have bought one from DFS, arriving in sept. I am so used to fabric sofa's that i'm worried its going to be too cold with a leather one (does that make sense)

biglips · 24/06/2006 22:03

DFS!

MerlinsBeard · 24/06/2006 22:06

we just bought a lush one from DFS wehich arrived yesterday cheap (ish) too as they have a big sale on

biglips · 24/06/2006 22:11

DFS - you dont pay anything for the first year and then you start paying on the 2nd year and its interest free too

Gingerbear · 24/06/2006 22:50

DFS FOREVER have a sale on though....
'Hurry, last few days....'
(Until next week when a new 'sale' starts.)

Thanks for all the great ideas, we brought our last one from DFS on the pay nothing for a year then paid it off in full, its a great sofa but it just is not lasting, dp told me off & said i made a BIG mistake getting fabric but i also worry that leather is going to be cold but i dont think it is my mum has just brought a big lovely one from DFS & hers seems fine when we are there visting.

I just want one that is going to last like 5 years fed up of having to keep buying them, my sofa now has still got loads of life left in it & you can wash the cousions but i feel we may as well purchase a new one now.

Barker & stonehouse do some nice ones & have good sales. We bought ours from House of Fraser, it's huge & lovely & great quality.
