Headphones for 8 yo son- in or over ear?

I want to get a set of headphones for my 8 yo son but am not decided whether to get over ear old style headphones or in ear buds...

Any help or comments (suggestions) gratefully received.

Over ear ones are better for hearing.

My 7yr old ds has green over ear skull candy ones which seem a really good fit.

Should have said - the ones linked to are obviously pink! Ds has a bright green version.
