There are some scary looking 'foundation' garments in M&S.

M&S ones are quite good. JL do some as well, but smaller size range (can't remember the make, but it's well-known...Sloggi perhaps?). They're not the rigid scarey things of yesteryear.

(shudders at thought of shopping trip to try them on...and finding that the XL Sloggies equate to size 12)
