Car warranties. Worth it?

I'm considering extending the warranty on my 3year old car. Obviously they're only really worth the money if something goes wrong, otherwise it's just another insurance. but it does give peace of mind. (sounding like an ad)

Just curious to know if anyone else has bought an extended warranty and did you go with the car manufacturer or someone else. Any recommendations?

sods law that's the one Wink. oh I don't know, I think it's about £300+ per year. It's supposed to be a reliable car (honda) so I don't know whether to just swallow the cost if and when. But sods law is sods law!

We bought ours last summer - 3 1/2 years old - and took the extended manufacturer's warranty and were glad we did as it went wrong a couple of months later and we got it repaired free. Also included some breakdown cover.

does topgear /moneysavingexpert have anything to say about them? we were suckered into a 'special offer 5 years for 3' deal on ours. A tome of exclusions in the small print to wade through to see what is actually covered.

thanks for the replies, wasn't sure i;d get many considering the subject. You've reminded me GB that I signed up for the free Which? trial. I'll have a look. Honda do say that theirs usually covers more than the high street ones.

Just looked at Which? & they say Honda is the most reliable so I think I might take my chances. The warranty they provide is middle of the road according to Which? along with a few others but there was only 2 manufacturer with a 'good' warranty rating anyway and the independants didn't do that well at all. But s*ds law keeps prodding me Grin
