DVD Storage

I need something to keep DVDs in order that can go under the coffee table. Should be attractive but not too expensive! Baby keeps rolling around in the DVDs and chewing the covers. Any ideas?

I can't offer any help, but would be interested in the results! All I have seen is CD storage - have the manufacturers not twigged that those buying DVD's will need somewhere to put them?

weve actually started just chucking away boxes and storing them in the cd folders like computer discs. Can get books that takes 100's. Always feel sl. twinge throwing away the box but the kids are usless at putting them back in boxes anyway.

Does it have to go under the coffee table? I have a seagrass shelf unit from Matalan, it only takes up a slightly-longer-than-DVD-case sized floor space; it's actually a CD tower but DVDs fit fine sideways. 7 shelves, each holding 8 DVDs. Looks OK and tucks away beside the TV.

decorate a few shoes boxes to match the colour scheme of your living room? maybe clear varnish on top of decor to make them a bit stronger? Cheap but effective (if the dvd's fit in it (sorry never tried it lol)

We used to have a small low storage unit, with 3 drawers in a row, for cassette tapes, which sat under the radio - there are (or used to be) CD ones too (2 drawers). I wonder if they make those for DVDs? (Probably look a bit naff though, under the TV.)(Hope nobody's got one!)

Thanks for ideas. Would prefer something to tuck away under coffee table as the room is quite posh/antiquey (with big b#*tard tell in the corner!). We must have about 150 DVDs and counting. I don't think I could bear to chuck out the covers. I'll keep looking....

Davros, I saw something gorgeous in the French Country Catalog, have no idea if it will go with your decor or budgetbut fun to look anyway! It is called a Burgundian Coffe Table/Wine Bar adapted from the Petrins of Megeve - the french used to let their dough rise in itit looks wonderful for storage (even more private that an oranizer that would go under your existing coffee table). The company is called French Country Living, www.frenchcountry.com I believe will steer you towards getting a catalog--not sure if they do online sales just yet. Take a look for fun, always good to get more ideas.

Thanks Sunch, I'll have a look. I could also hide the Skippy in there

Weve got an excellent one. Only from Argos but holds over 100 DVDs, it rotates and you can put them in both sides so its not massive. It was only about thirty pounds so wasnt expensive.

Goody Davros---just fun to look anyway, yep, lots of Skippy!
