We have lots of the Happy Land and really like it. DD started collecting in from a year old and she still plays with the whole village at 4yo. It is very popular with all her friends. It is very sturdy and very interactive. we prefer the people in Happy Land to the Little People ones - they looka bit odd. And the HL houses seem a bit more hard wearing than the LP ones - friend has some of both.

i like old fisher price courtesy of ebay but i am a puritan - no lights and only wind up sounds in otters nest!

Nemo1977 · 05/06/2006 21:36

i prefered the little people stuff for ds.

blueamema · 05/06/2006 21:38

thanks hulababy... sounds good to me..

have just been looking at the people in the elc catalouge, they remind me of the ones i used to play with from FP

On ebay:

\link{http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=happy+street&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=Postcode&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=\Happy Street} - HS is the earliest stuff.

Check prices in catalogue first before buying though as postage bumps this stuff up lots.

We love the Happy Land stuff. Bought several pieces for dd a few years ago and it has now been given a new lease of life by ds2 (2) and even ds1 (8) and his mate have been found playing with it just this week - so it has a long play life imo. Worth investing in.

Orinoco · 05/06/2006 21:50

We've got Little People - simply because it's available in more shops so when relatives buy it for dd2 they don't have to go into town! (and also because it was half price in Toysrus!)

LIZS · 05/06/2006 22:28

We have had Play family / Little People and FP change the sets every few years but it is all compatible. It is often on offer nd you can also get a floor mat for it. We've got loads now and our 2 - 8 and almost 5 - love it still !

julienetmum · 05/06/2006 23:55

We've got some of both and like them both. We mostly went for Little People as it is a lot cheaper than Happyland. The house for example comes with all the people whereas Happyland you have to buy them extra. However the Happyland stuff has a wider range of little bits like the church and the shops.

blueamema · 07/06/2006 09:41

thanks, have been looking on ebay for cheaper stuff and even found some fisher price in the vintage/classic section!! brought back some memories from my childhood!!

Don't believe the bit that says it goes up to 5. Ds has been over it since well before 3.

NomDePlume · 07/06/2006 09:46

HappyLand won for us, reasonable value and very durable. DD is 3y10m and still plays with it every once in a while.

NomDePlume · 07/06/2006 09:47

The HappyLand play mat is great, it's wipe clean and zips up to form a sort of travel bag for all th HL bits and bobs. Great for chucking in the car to take to grandma's or wherever.

WelshBoris · 07/06/2006 09:47

DDs got both, but prefers happy land

Tommy · 07/06/2006 10:01

ELC often have good sale prices on theirs - found lots of it last Christmas so you can build it up.

tenalady · 07/06/2006 10:02

happy land doesnt feel so babyish so they use it for longer

expatinscotland · 07/06/2006 10:05

little people all the way.

fruitful · 07/06/2006 15:58

We've got both, and Megabloks people and cars too. Dd and ds mix them up happily.
