cheap cot beds

my ds is 26mths, but really tall so has outgrown his cot. I want to swap him to a cot bed, one where the sides eventually come off so he can be in it as a toddler bed, but don't want to spend a fortune. All the mothercare ones were £250!!

Also - don't want to put him in a real bed - I would rather have him behind bars as long as possible

It's coming up to NCT sale season again, which is where we got one for ds. Still had to buy the mattress. Or you could try Kiddicare.com? A friend got hers off ebay. £250 is a fortune!

What about just getting a toddler bed? We put DD in one at 18 months and heven't had any problems at all. We just got one from Mothercare and it was only £50.

We put DD into a toddler bed at 15 months. What about a bed and a gate on the room? (I can hear other mumsnetters gasp - shock horror! )
