First bed - Normal size single bed v's children bed

Could anyone recommend a bed that is suitable for a toddler, that isn't in the shape of a car etc!

Just hoping to skip the in-betweeny stage and go straight for a normal single bed. Is this bad?!

try ikea, we had an ikea toddler bed for DD,it was about 7ish years ago and we bought It second Hand but it was really good.

Smaller than a full size single bed with a bar going half way down the length.

Go on the website and see what they have.

Don't blame you not wanting a car shape one- DS got one when he was 3ish and loved it. He's 5 now and not so keen at all. He wants bunkbeds now!

He can sod off :)

No, it is perfectly fine to go from cot straight to a standard single bed. We did this with DS, no problem at all, we have a very nice IKEA single with loads of storage space inside. We used a mothercare bed rail for a couple of months, but didn't need it after that.

Thanks ladies

Will check out ikea Smile

Your parting comment made me chuckle, wannabe!

I second getting single bed. Nice to be able to jump in with them when they're feeling poorly or can't sleep, rather than having to perch somewhere.

We went straight to normal beds with our 3 with no problem - didn't even bother with bed guards slack mother that I am

Straight to a regular single bed here too.

DS was/is big for his age, a child's bed wouldn't have lasted him long enough.

We went straight to a single. It is good to be able to get into it with DD or switch one of us into it if she ends up in our bed. Get a decent mattress that you would be happy sleeping on.
