New camera help please

l'm looking to get a new camera and feel a bit overwhelmed by the choice. l just use it for general holiday snaps type thing and have approx 200 pounds to spend. Any suggestions, recommendations or ones to avoid would be fab. Thanks

I'm fairly enthusiastic about cameras; I have Nikon D80 for when I am going to 'do' photography for competitions etc, but I have a also 'point & shoot' camera, which is the type you want, that I keep on me at all times, in case I see anything interesting.

I recommend the Panasonic Lumix digital compact range. This is the most recent version on the Panasonic website, but you can probably get an older edition on Amazon. They issue a new version once a year. They have enough features that you get great photos, but not so many that they overwhelm.
