Hi sorry if these are dumb questions i am trying to get to grips with my new kindle but how do i change the name on it ? It says Carls kindle which is dh because it his amazon account , i would like to personalise, and also what is difference between the two tab headings cloud/device. thankyou

You can change the name but I'll have to ask dd how we did it ! Cloud contains everything on the account to which it is linked (you need to be online to see it), Device only what you have actually downloaded onto this Kindle. When purchases are made on the account the buyer can allocate where it will be sent.

From dd ! Log on to your Amazon account then Your Account, Manage Your Devices, find the Kindle Name and change the title by clicking on edit.
