what do they do? do they keep them warmer on the beach? (dd1 has terrible circulation and is always frozen, just wondering if this will help or whether it's not worth bothering)

Keep them warmier in the sea - once they are wet they are cold I think but when dry keep you pretty warm. I just put mine in sweaters even on the beach if they are that cold.

they are great keep the sun off and keep warm in the sea..and they work by the wet next to you being warm so stay warm when you come out too..we were sailors so had them for that but very popular on Welsh beaches!

it probably would keep her warmer

I found that it is very hard to get one that fits properly and for it to fit properly and work the way it's supposed to, it needs to be fairly tight on the skin (i.e. not loose). We found (when we tried some on) that because small children are such varying shapes and our kids were quite thin, most of the wetsuits were a bit baggy and then, IMO, there's not much point in having one!

Our beach is very exposed and windy all the time so shorty wetsuits are invaluable even in high summer for keeping wet kids warm. My 9yo could surf for hours but his slighter 6yo brother would chill after half an hour. A wetsuit kept him warm for ages.

I find wearing a wetsuit very freeing too.Grin

How old is he? www.splashabout.net sell babywraps which are like a wetsuit wraparound swimsuit which help keep them warm. They are completely tight on them.

I'd have one with short arms and legs for the beach
