Best garden lighting?

I've only got a small patioed garden and want some summer lighting this year(cheap!). Not sure whether to go for solar lights that dig into the ground, tea lights or to string up some christmas-type lights and run a cable into the house. All thoughts gratefully received!

We bought some of the solar powered ones a few years ago but they gave off zero light so we took them back.

A string of simple lights designed for outdoor use always looks nice -and at least will give you some light to do things by

solar lights are quite good for practical reasons

if you use stringlights make sure they are "outdoor" certified

thank you - I know next door bought solar lights and they don't work either.

Do they give out a pathetic blue glow just bright enough to see where the light is? Thats all we got.
